But OH MY GOODNESS! I am so happy I decided to visit Düsseldorf. I will be heading back very shortly (and hopefully for a little longer next time). The city is really amazing. There is shopping on every corner, museums, festivals, music, theaters, opera, really good restaurants, castles, and a huge building where you can go skiing and sledding INDOORS!!!! I think if I were ever given the opportunity to relocate to Düsseldorf, I would probably take it without thinking twice about it. <3
SO...here are the pictures ;)
The first museum I went to was the theater museum. It was kind of small, but it explained in pictures and text when the theater in Düsseldorf opened and the actors that played at the time. It was certainly interesting ;)
The second museum I went to was the Art museum Nordrhein-Westfalen (Düsseldorf is the capital of Nordrhein-Westfalen--a state in Germany, for those who don't know). I was SO EXCITED to see actual paintings of Pablo Picasso! I literally freaked out when I saw a whole room full of his paintings. There was one painting in particular that I remember seeing and learning about in a book a long time ago, I took a picture of it. ;)
I had lunch at a good restaurant (I honestly have no idea if it was Italian or Spanish...The waiter was obviously Italian, the restaurant was in an alley with other Spanish-themed restaurants, and I was eating fish...) :D

Unfortunately, I didn't get to go to the Opera. I REALLY wanted to see a performance there, but the theaters and operas are generally closed during the summer. The first performances start next week. :(
I also went to the Film museum in Düsseldorf. This museum explains how the film industry has changed in the last 100 years. It explained the theater and how the sets functioned, how movies evolved from the silent-film era to black and white and finally to color; it talked a little about animation movies and how they work. I would definitely recommend it if you're interested in film and the theater. It's not entirely large, but there is a LOT of interesting information to learn. I really enjoyed it. ;)

LOVE this picture ;)
Lastly, I visited this indoor skiing/sledding building...Yes, it is indoor. There is snow on the ground and people are skiing and snowboarding on a huge hill INSIDE. lol I can't tell you how amazed I was when I saw this. I have never heard of such a place :D
